| The RTI BRC40 is caliper-mounted,
ensuring that the machined disc surface will be virtually parallel
to the disc brake pad plane. This and the micro-finish created by
the variable feed and speed, guarantees the maximum contact of brake
pad to disc surface area possible. Runout, thickness variation,
pedal pulsation, and adverse steering symptoms are eliminated. Brake
performance is enhanced and comebacks are eliminated. No other lathe
at any price offers so much precision!
A
major advantage of the BRC40 over other units is fast setup and
simple operation. In terms of productivity and revenue per minute,
this lathe has no equal. It can be set up in minutes and can be
operated by any technician with average skills and average experience
with normal auto shop tools. Any technician who can change pads
is capable of producing high quality results with the BRC40. Simply
choose and insert the listed adapter, install twin cylinder clamps,
set feed and speed and go!
The BRC40 is fully capable of handling preloaded front wheel
bearing applications, as well as many rear rotors. The BRC40 is
more flexible and is able to service more rear applications because
of the ability of its Mini Lathe to fit in tighter access rear
wheel wells. |

| RTI adds new technology with special constant torque, infinitely
variable speed feed motors controlled electronically with special
Pulse Width Modulation controls. From high speed rough cut to extra
fine "burnishing" speed for fast and precise results.
We searched the world for the best smooth running spindle drive
motor with no vibration. We connected this motor using high tech
"quick change" multi-groove belts and a special high torque
roller chain, again to eliminate vibration. There are two spindle
speeds, 110 and 220 RPM. At the extra high spindle speed, the fastest
in the industry, a better surface finish is possible at all feed
speeds, 0.0015"-0.010" per spindle revolution.
The BRC550 is like the BRC500 except with the added feature
of Electronically Controlled Offset Step Feed. This feature stops
the cutting tools periodically, creating a non-directional finish
and an even finer surface finish automatically. This is a feature
required by the most demanding German car makers.
The BRC525 and BRC575 are similar to the BRC500 and BRC550 respectively,
except that they use an industry standard 1" arbor and include
no adapters. |

| The BRC450 will machine rotors on-the-car, no matter how much
bearing end-play is present, including rear rotors on free-floating
axles. With a special RTI design of the spindle to hub adapter,
using special adjustable cranks with extra fine pitch (50 threads/inch)
adjustment nuts, the time to achieve necessary compensation or alignment
is minimized. Less than two minutes per wheel to get to around 0.002"
of runout and only slightly more to consistently achieve "near
zero" or less than 0.001". Changing from 4 to 5 or 6 lug
hubs is fast and easy with one basic adapter setup. Competitors
may require many additional extra cost adapters. No other adapter
system is easier or faster with the same level of reliability and
coverage.
The RTI BRC450 has a new spindle drive technology to eliminate
vibration. In addition, the maximum rotor thickness has been increased
to a full 40 mm, with a maximum rotor diameter of 14" (355
mm), allowing machining of vehicles such as the new Dodge Ram.
Like RTI's high end bench lathe, the BRC550, the BRC450 has Offset
Step Feed, producing a non-directional finish automatically. Feed
speed is set to a constant speed at the factory for optimum surface
finish.
The RTI BRC450 has also been designed to use positive rake cutting
tips with the special RTI shear angle tip holder, for the best
possible surface finish. Negative rake tips and tip holders are
also available.
The BRC450 comes with a goose neck dial indicator setup. This
makes setup faster and more accurate. Also standard is the new
hydraulically controlled Transport/Setup Lift, designed and produced
by RTI. With this new Transport/Setup Lift, the BRC450, unlike
one competitor's model, can be easily used even on four post lifts!
Height is adjustable over a wider range than all competitors'
designs. The lathe can be used without the Transport Setup Lift,
therefore making it possible to be used with the vehicle on jack
stands. The BRC450 can be specially ordered as a model BRC450-
L, without the Transport/Setup Lift, at a lower cost. |

RTI
BRC440 Hub Arm to Mount Brake Lathe BRC40 |
Back
to Top |
| Caliper-mounted or hub-mounted? RTI's caliper-mount lathes are
the best at producing "near zero" runout automatically
and can be used if the bearing is, or can be, pre-loaded. RTI's
hub-mount lathes can be used in more applications than caliper-mount
lathes, but hub-mount lathes are more difficult to set up in order
to eliminate runout below 0.001" (0.025mm). Therefore, some
vehicle brake jobs benefit from a caliper-mount lathe, while in
other applications, a hub-mount lathe is ideal.
With RTI's new "hub arm" technology, a combination
caliper-mount/hub-mount hybrid has been developed to give you
the best of both worlds. The special aluminum hub arm with heavy-duty
roller bearings allows the new BRC40 Caliper-Mount Mini Lathe
to be used as an hub-mount lathe. The hub arm is called the BRC440.
It works very much like the RTI BRC450 Hub-Mount Lathe, except
it uses the same cutting head and drive as the BRC40. When the
BRC440 is used with the BRC40 Mini Lathe, it is called the BRC480
(BRC475 respectively for BRC35).The BRC480 is slightly more flexible
because of the BRC40 Mini Lathe's ability to fit in tighter access
wheel wells. But, for economy-minded shops the BRC475 is better.
For vehicles with pre-loaded bearings, simply choose the caliper-mount
setup, insert the listed adapter, install cylinder clamps, and
resurface the rotor with unbelievable precision. For other vehicles,
install the hub arm, perform the rapid runout compensation setup
and go! It's that simple! The RTI Dual On-Car Lathe provides you
with the best solution for any need! |
